The building now known as the Butter Restaurant in Chicago (located in the West Loop) was once the location of The Green Room, but now houses a fun, comfortable atmosphere that is decorated in tones of red wines. Boasting an illuminated red bar where couples sip their drinks, as well as a raw bar serving oysters and other fine foods, the main dining area is lit by candlelight on the tables nearby and is overlooked by a lounge upstairs. The dishes at the Butter Restaurant in Chicago are greatly varied and are guaranteed to appeal to the tastes of most. Try an appetizer of seasoned potato chips, truffle popcorn, oyster crackers, or cold pear-parsnip soup for something a little different to start the evening, then follow up with the halibut with royale mushrooms (also topped with shredded oxtail ravioli, spring onions, and tarragon sabayon). For a heavier meal, try Pork Two Ways (braised belly and tenderloin), served with tangy marmalade, carmelized apples, and apple gastrique.
For those who like to nurse a drink during dinner, the Bon-Bon comes highly recommended. This $10.00 drink is a mixture of Belvedere vodka and white grape juice, garnished with whole, peeled white grapes. If you want to impress a date, the Butter Restaurant is a great place to start; in the women’s restroom, she’ll find treats, and at the table, she’ll find purse holders that clip to the table. Dress code is business casual, so don’t expect to see anyone looking sloppy. Party accommodations are available for anywhere from 12 to 300 people. Parking is available on the street, or by valet ($8.00). Overall, the Butter Restaurant in Chicago is a fabulous place to take a date, or to dine with your co-workers. |
